Doctors in Training (DiT) 2027 - Advanced Trainee - Infectious Diseases (533553)
The Tasmanian Health Service seeks an advanced trainee in Infectious Diseases. The successful applicant will be based at Launceston General Hospital Tasmania and work alongside a team of 4 infectious diseases physicians, 1 microbiologist, 3 infectious diseases pharmacists, and a basic physician trainee. There is also the possibility of working with a sexual health/HIV specialist in an outpatient clinic depending on interest. The trainee will also have excellent support from clinical and educational supervisors.
The Infectious Diseases Unit is a consulting service and covers a wide range of surgical and medical subspecialties and participates in regular multidisciplinary meetings with specialities including Haematology, Orthopaedics and Intensive Care.
The outpatient consultation service includes a weekly general Infectious Diseases clinic, an outpatient antimicrobial therapy clinic and a high-risk foot clinic. There is also the opportunity to participate in Tuberculosis Clinic which is run by the Infectious Diseases service. Besides regular clinical rounds, the role also includes antimicrobial stewardship and supporting the infection control team, when needed, in addition to out of hours on call.
There are various research opportunities in addition to participating in an established training/learning programme. The trainee will also be eligible for an honorary clinical appointment with the University of Tasmania and will be encouraged to teach and supervise medical students.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term full time, day worker with on call, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing 1 February 2027 until 6 February 2028 applicable.
You will receive 10 hours of paid, protected training time per fortnight, pro rata.

Salary:
- Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022
Registrars
Medical Practitioner Level 5 - 11 $134,930 - $189,005 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging
