
The Team:
The Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Service forms part of the statewide Cancer and Blood Services within Hospitals South and provides specialised care coordination and support for Tasmanians undergoing blood stem cell collection and bone marrow transplantation. Working within a multidisciplinary team environment, the service collaborates closely with Haematologists, nursing staff, allied health professionals, interstate transplant centres, and external organisations including the Australasian Bone Marrow Donor Registry to deliver safe, contemporary, and patient-centred care. The team is committed to improving outcomes for patients with complex haematological, oncological, and autoimmune conditions through evidence-based practice, service innovation, education, and strong care coordination across inpatient, outpatient, and interstate services
The Role:
As part of a multidisciplinary Cancer Services team, the Bone Marrow Transplant CNC:
• Is responsible for the provision of a nurse consultancy service for bone marrow transplant, haematology patients and their families in collaboration with Haematologists and senior Cancer Services nursing staff.
• Leads and manages the development of an effective, efficient and dynamic service delivery framework, including actively contributing to business planning, service evaluation, quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives within Cancer Services.
• Provides clinical education and support to Cancer Services staff, private hospitals, community-based health professionals and support groups in relation to the care and management of bone marrow transplant patients.
• Is accountable for agreed clinical outcomes, reflective nursing practice, and contributing to the ongoing professional development and performance of nursing staff involved in the delivery of bone marrow transplant care.
You will need:
- Demonstrated advanced level of clinical expertise in haematology/oncology nursing practice and the ability to apply principles of best practice to the clinical setting through the development and implementation of appropriate clinical guidelines.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written which include the ability to provide support to patients and families experiencing cancer.
- Proven ability to plan, implement and evaluate education sessions for patients and staff, as they relate to the care of BMT patients.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, part time, day worker position, working 32 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $118,297 to $125,543 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
