Be part of a close‑knit Safe Haven team where lived experience, compassion and collaboration drive meaningful mental health support. Working alongside clinicians, our peer workforce helps create a supportive, recovery‑focused environment for carers, families and communities when it matters most.
The Role:
Be part of a small specialist team delivering high quality consumer focussed mental health services in accordance with the National Safety & Quality Primary and Community Healthcare Standards, Agency policy and direction and legal requirements, and relevant professional competencies.
You will need to:
- Support the tenets of the Safe Haven Operational Service Model (OSM) which are to provide a supportive and therapeutic environment that promotes independence, opportunity and recovery in the community for individuals experiencing situational and suicidal distress
- Use their lived experience to assist families and carers of people living with a mental illness to navigate the mental health and social services system and optimise outcomes for both the families and carers themselves and individuals seeking assistance at the Safe Haven.
- Work cooperatively and positively with families, carers, consumers and relevant clinical staff to encourage participation in individual treatment and recovery plans, through the identification of the carers’ views, suggestions and concerns.

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time shift worker (set rotational) position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $67,193 to $72,126 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Personal experience of mental illness and use of clinical mental health services
- Current Driver’s Licence
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or willingness to work towards the same
- Evidence of knowledge, skill and experience in the recovery approach
