The Team:
Join a team where early intervention meets real impact.
Are you looking for a role where you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people while building your skills across a broad range of practice areas? Youth Health North offers a dynamic, supportive environment where your contribution matters, your development is prioritised, and your work has genuine community impact.
Our multidisciplinary team delivers evidence-based, youth-friendly health and wellbeing services to young people aged 12–24. We work alongside young people who may be experiencing social, emotional or health-related challenges, supporting them to build capacity, strengthen resilience, and navigate their pathways with confidence.
Based across Northern Tasmania, our work spans community health centres, outreach settings and partnerships with local services and organisations. What sets us apart is our strong focus on early intervention, accessibility, and creating safe, inclusive spaces where young people feel heard, respected and supported.
We are a collaborative, values-driven team committed to continuous learning, quality improvement, and making a positive difference in the lives of young Tasmanians.
The Role:
As a Youth Health Worker, you will play a key role in supporting young people to improve their health and wellbeing through both individual and group-based approaches.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide assessment, brief intervention, therapeutic counselling, advocacy, education and group facilitation to young people experiencing a range of challenges. You will also contribute to health promotion activities, community development initiatives, and service improvement processes.
Your work will include both centre-based services and outreach to the community, ensuring young people can access support in ways that are flexible, responsive and appropriate to their needs.
No two days are the same. You may be supporting a young person through a brief intervention, facilitating a group program, collaborating with other services, or contributing to initiatives that promote youth wellbeing across the community.
You will need:
- A relevant university-level qualification in an allied health discipline (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or similar).
- Demonstrated experience, or emerging capability, in working with young people, including assessment, brief intervention and/or group work.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and engage young people in a flexible, responsive way.
Note: - Please refer to the Statement of Duties for all the selection criteria of this position to address in your application.
