Job description:

In this role, you will provide leadership, motivation, direction and training ensuring all work associated with the food services distribution and cafe is of the highest quality standard for patients, visitors and staff, assuring the service operates efficiently and effectively within the standards, guidelines and procedures.

The Team:

As a supervisor, you’ll be part of a dedicated team that plays a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of patients and staff across Tasmania’s public hospitals and health facilities. The team works collaboratively to ensure the safe preparation, handling, and delivery of nutritious meals that meet diverse dietary and clinical needs. With a strong focus on hygiene, efficiency, and teamwork, the Food Services team contributes directly to patient care and recovery in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

The Role:

You will be responsible for the supervising a diverse team ensuring the safe preparation, portioning, and delivery of meals to patients, staff, and visitors in a healthcare setting. Your role ensures meals meet dietary, nutritional, and hygiene standards, supporting patient recovery and wellbeing. You’ll work as part of a collaborative team, maintaining food safety protocols, operating kitchen equipment, and contributing to a clean and efficient food service environment.

You will need:

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, co-ordinate, guide and motivate a team of Food Service staff including the ability to implement and undertake staff training to ensure the highest standards are achieved.
  • Proven experience in all aspects of large-scale food service including meal distribution, ware washing and cleaning.
  • Experience in maintaining control mechanisms that ensure standards of food service and quality are continually provided.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time shift worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $73,811 to $79,779 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
