Job description:

Assist the Physiotherapists in the provision of optimal care for in-patients admitted with diagnosis including, but not restricted to, respiratory conditions, neurological disorders, falls, surgical and orthopaedic conditions.

The Team:

The Inpatient Physiotherapy team at Mersey Community Hospital is a close-knit group of 8 working across the inpatient medical and rehabilitation wards.  MCH is an exciting and rewarding place to work, featuring contemporary, evidence-informed practise that sees you closely linked to the whole multidisciplinary team

The Role:

The North West Physiotherapy team are a dynamic and creative group who enable people of all ages to participate in everyday activities they find meaningful. Working with this team, the Physiotherapy Assistant will assist with the daily functioning of physiotherapy services, such as:

  • Assist the Physiotherapists in the provision of optimal care for in-patients admitted with diagnosis including, but not restricted to, respiratory conditions, neurological disorders, falls, surgical and orthopaedic conditions.
  • Directly assist Physiotherapists with treatments requiring more than one person and implement Physiotherapy programs following assessment and development of a written plan by a Physiotherapist. This includes gait re-education and practice of exercise programs.
  • Prepare, clean and maintain Physiotherapy equipment and the general department in line with infection control standards.
  • Assist Physiotherapist's with administrative and auditing tasks using Microsoft programs. 
  • Assist in the running of outpatient group exercise programs including Cardiac Rehabilitation, Pulmonary Rehabilitation and G:LAD.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part time, day worker position, working up to 45.6 hours per fortnight, commencing from 15 April 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $67,193 to $72,126 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Union Wages Agreement 2022
