Job description:

The Clinical Trials & Specialised Drugs team at the Royal Hobart Hospital are looking for a Specialist Pharmacist to oversee pharmacy operations in clinical trials and to support the Pharmacy Department’s management of drug access schemes.

The Team:

Working within the Royal Hobart Hospital Pharmacy’s Compounding & Cancer Services unit, the Clinical Trials & Specialised Drugs team provide expert care to inpatients and outpatients of the RHH across haematology, oncology, paediatrics and other clinical areas.

The Role:

Work within a team of clinical trials specialist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to oversee pharmacy operations in the area of clinical trials, and to support the Pharmacy Department’s management of drug access schemes.

You will need to:

  • Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients of the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) in relation to clinical trials. This includes oversight of and involvement in patient management and review, supply services, sterile reconstitution services, coordination of clinical trial medication management, and provision of drug information.
  • Provide training, professional supervision and support to other pharmacy staff of the RHH in the area of clinical trials.
  • Responsible for the coordination, procurement, dispensing, reconstitution, and documentation of medications obtained under specialised drug access schemes and clinical trials.

Details of appointment:

Permanent part time, day worker position, working 30.4 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $110,425 to $121,907 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022.

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Allowances: 

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
  • A market allowance of $10,000 per annum pro rata is applicable to this role

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia or completion of an overseas qualification eligible for skills assessment through the Australian Pharmacy Council.

  • Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia

For pre-registration (intern) pharmacists: Eligible for provisional registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
