Job description:

This pivotal role supports the Population Screening and Cancer Prevention team within the Department of Health. You’ll lead the BreastScreen Tasmania Data Team, overseeing the management of the BreastScreen Tasmania Client Management System and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems—critical tools that help deliver life-saving screening services across the state.

The Role:

  • Provides high level reporting, analysis and advice to inform and improve service delivery and efficiency across Population Screening and Cancer Prevention. The position provides reporting at national (BreastScreen Australia, Australian Institute of Health Welfare) and local (BreastScreen Tasmania, Department of Health (DoH)) levels as well as leading ad-hoc report development and research-driven data analysis.
  • Leads the BreastScreen Tasmania Data Team in managing the BreastScreen Tasmania Client Management System and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). The role acts as a bridge between the service providers of ICT services, including Vendors and DoH ICT staff, and Population Screening staff.
  • Manages the standards of data collection for all clients attending BreastScreen Tasmania including data security, integrity and analysis, and leads the successful implementation, utilisation and evaluation of varied complex clinical information systems both electronic and paper based.

You will need:

  • Extensive knowledge, experience and understanding of the planning, administration and operational management of contemporary medical information systems and information and communication technology, including the development and management of contracts and service level agreements. Technical understanding of system configuration and the ability to troubleshoot failures is highly desirable.
  • Proven expert knowledge of service planning processes, strategic, conceptual, analytical and creative skills, including the ability to develop and make sound judgments about the application of information systems and technology to maximise the efficient and effective delivery of services. Knowledge of population health screening issues and understanding of the current directions of health policies and programs.
  • Demonstrated capacity to independently conduct research and analysis and prepare high level reports and correspondence. This includes proven experience in complex database query design, and the interpretation, presentation and use of statistical information with an emphasis on clinical service delivery, socio-demographic statistics and epidemiological issues.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of 12 months.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Classification: General Stream, Band 7

Salary: $128,102 to $134,832 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
