About the Northern Cancer Service
The Tasmanian Health Service seeks a Clinical and Laboratory Haematologist to join the Northern Cancer Service. The Northern Cancer Service is an integrated cancer service operating across three sites in Northern Tasmania, providing Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Haematology services. The position will be based at the W.P. Holman Clinic in Launceston providing inpatient and outpatient care. It will also provide outreach outpatient services to the North West Cancer Centre in Burnie and the Mersey Community Hospital in Latrobe.

The Service has a clinical trials and research unit, running a range of phase 2 & 3 trials and a rigorous MDT meeting program. The role includes both clinical and laboratory work in addition to various teaching opportunities through trainee support, post graduate teaching, and potential involvement with UTAS.
The Role:
- Provide a diagnostic and consultative service for inpatients and outpatients in adult haematology at the Northern Cancer Service.
- Contribute to undergraduate teaching and post graduate teaching.
- Undertake quality improvement and research activities.

Details of Appointment:
- Position: Permanent full-time, working 76 hours per fortnight, day work with on-call duties. Fixed term hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant. *notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Remuneration package: Includes a base salary and a suite of allowances. As an illustration, the total package would start at $484,000 per annum for a specialist with 9 years of experience.
Base salary: In accordance with the current Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022.
- Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $216,300 - $310,389 per annum.
- Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 - $310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022.
Allowances:
- Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $28,786 per annum.
- Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,974 per annum.
- Private Patient Scheme: 35% of base salary.
- On-call allowance (based on 1 in 6): 6.7% of base salary.
- Relocation package and accommodation allowance available.
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered

- Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Australia or equivalent
