Job description:

This is a senior level Psychology role, which provides a high level of skilled assessment and intervention to consumers of the service. The position also provides expert level opinion and input into the broader multidisciplinary team.

The Team:

The role sits within the Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Service (PIMHS). PIMHS South is a community-based specialist/tertiary perinatal mental health service for women affected by, or at risk of significant mental health challenges related to pregnancy and the postnatal period (up to 12 months following birth). The multidisciplinary team offers assessment or secondary consultation, treatment or advice to consumers and the stakeholders engaged in their care.

The Role:

This is a senior level Psychology role, which provides a high level of skilled assessment and intervention to consumers of the service. The position also provides expert level opinion and input into the broader multidisciplinary team.

You will need:

  • Provide comprehensive evidence-based clinical assessment and therapy for pregnant women presenting to the RHH where there are concerns around their relationship with and capacity to parent an infant.
  • Provide comprehensive evidence-based clinical assessment of mother/father – infant interaction and mother/father – infant relationship therapy to families where there are concerns around their relationship with and capacity to parent their infant born at the RHH.
  • Provide expert infant mental health advice with other government and non-government departments and in regional forums and within the region as required.

Details of appointment:

Permanent part time, day worker position, working 15.2 hours per fortnight, as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $123,717 to $134,336 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022
  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $130,900 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Allowances: 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia

    Where required for a particular role:

    Area of practice Endorsement ie, Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology, Counselling Psychology, Community Psychology, Educational and Developmental Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Health Psychology, Organisational Psychology, or Sport and Exercise Psychology

    *Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Expertise in infant mental health and experience in infant mental health/perinatal psychology.
  • Experience in teaching at a post graduate level.
  • Experience in the clinical supervision of postgraduate clinical students.
  • Expertise in design and conduct of research and data analysis.
