The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) is a well-established mental health service in the North West of Tasmania with a highly skilled and passionate team of clinicians. We are seeking a Specialist Pharmacist to work in the Youth Mental Health Hospital in the Home (Y-HiTH) team.
Our Aim:
To support young people (15–24-year-old) who may be experiencing an acute episode of mental illness to receive treatment (including medication management and support, including clinical pharmacy) in their home and within the community, rather than being admitted to an inpatient mental health unit, or as part of a discharge plan from hospital.
The Y-HiTH team works with young person and their family/significant others to develop an individual treatment plan that supports their recovery. With multiple home visits occurring every day and additional support via telephone and telehealth, young people will receive comparable treatment from Y-HiTH as they would from an inpatient admission.
CYMHS in Tasmania is undergoing Reform with the exciting development and implementation of new teams working across the state to improve the mental health outcomes of young people and their support systems.
The Role:
Working as a part of the Youth Mental Health Hospital in the Home (Y-HiTH) multidisciplinary team and providing a comprehensive, safe, and timely pharmacy service for patients, the Specialist Pharmacist – Y-HiTH delivers person centred, recovery orientated and trauma informed care to all admitted young people and their care system, and in accordance with the National Standards for Mental Health Services, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies.
You will need to:
- Coordinate and provide a specialised clinical and dispensary service for Y-HiTH patients: Dispense medications for patients and discharge supply in accordance with all legal requirements and work within the parameters of the various medication access schemes available in public hospitals
- Act as a resource person within Y-HiTH related to mental health medication and provide advice and education to medical, nursing, allied health and pharmacy staff, patients, carers, and students, as and when required.
- Manage own performance and maintain the highest possible standards of continuing professional development in accordance with requirements of the workplace and that of the Pharmacy Board of Australia.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 12 Feb 2027.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $110,425 to $121,907 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
Allowances:
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
- A market allowance of $10,000 per annum pro rata is applicable to this role
