Exciting opportunity for a Nurse Consultant to join the Department of Health!

The Team:

The clinical procurement nursing consultant will provide clinical support to the Statewide supply team do deliver product and process harmonisation across the Tasmanian Health Service. Statewide supply is driving efficiency and financial initiatives across every department in all hospitals and community locations. The supply team collaborate with a range of clinicians, and vendors to deliver excellence in governance, best practice, and substantial financial outcomes. This is a statewide role and will require travel to other locations for product consultation, cooperation, and education.

This position requires extensive knowledge of clinical medical products and devices used within the health sector and demonstrate high level of communication, negotiation with ability to liaise and navigate through complex issues with key clinical areas effectively. The successful applicants should also demonstrate high level clinical practice and promote evidence-based practice to deliver cost-effectiveness and maximise outcomes of THS.

The Role:

The Clinical Procurement nurse consultant:

  • Support the Statewide Supply Manager (SSM), Inventory Manager and key stakeholders, to provide advice and coordinate product reviews, harmonisation, recalls and alternatives, process improvements, and initiate new trials of medical consumables and devices
  • Identify opportunities for product and process standardisation across the state and advocate with clinical staff for value-added outcomes that do not compromise patient outcomes, including consideration of financial and physical resources.
  • Operates autonomously and exercises considerable initiative and professional judgement in the management of clinical products in relation to their safe and effective selection within THS including recalls and clinical product complaints

You will need:

  1. Demonstrated advanced clinical nursing expertise, together with highly developed clinical management and leadership skills to support best practice standards in relation to clinical equipment and materials purchase and use. 
  2. High level organisational, independent decision-making and problem-solving skills, including the demonstrated ability to effectively work autonomously to achieve specified outcomes. 
  3. Experience in management of clinical products in relation to their safe and effective selection and use in a healthcare facility, and awareness of product or tender specification

Details of appointment:

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, Commencing as soon as possible. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $118,297 to $125,543 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Current Driver’s License.

  • Holds or is working towards a relevant post-graduate tertiary qualification.

  • Member of relevant professional nursing organisation.
