The Team:
Smithton District Hospital (SDH) is small sized sub-acute public hospital located in Smithton Tasmania. It services the whole Circular Head region with a catchment population of 8000 people.
The Hospital has 12 subacute beds accommodating general medicine, post-acute, palliative and end of life care. We have a 3 bay Emergency First Response unit staffed by nurses and General Practitioners (Rural Medical Practitioners) who are contracted to provide on call medical services. No surgery is performed at this hospital.
The Role:
- To provide meals as per set menu plan for inpatients, staff & Meals on Wheels clients.
- Ensure individualised dietary needs are provided.
- Ensure all meal preparation and meal delivery meets the standards set out in the Food Safety Plan.
- Monitor the use and storage of food, perishable goods and other consumables in accordance with the standards set out in the Food Safety Plan.
You will need:
1. Experience in the preparation and presentation of meals, with experience in preparing meals for people with special dietary needs being desirable.
2. Practical knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety, infection control and food safety and hygiene practices.
3. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to liaise effectively with a wide range of internal and external consumers.
4. Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise own daily work output.
5. Willingness and ability to participate in education programs to improve the standard of service delivery.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term, casual, position working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible for approximately 24 months.

Salary: $63,110 to $66,049 per annum Pro rata. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
