Job description:

Provide leadership and direction in the management of the Screening Recruitment and Cancer Prevention team. This will involve supporting the Director - Population Screening and Cancer Prevention by undertaking policy review and development and participating in or leading projects relating to the delivery of services to the community, and recruitment of screening participants.

The Team:

Population Screening and Cancer Prevention oversees the delivery of the three national population cancer screening programs to the Tasmanian population, including breast, bowel and cervical cancer screening. The business unit also delivers the Tasmanian Diagnostic Breast Imaging Service, a new service that provides public diagnostic breast imaging to Tasmanians.

The Role:

In accordance with Agency policies, promote the health and wellbeing of Tasmanians through the development of policy and strategic frameworks for screening recruitment and cancer prevention in Tasmania.

Provide leadership and direction in the management of the Screening Recruitment and Cancer Prevention team. This will involve supporting the Director - Population Screening and Cancer Prevention by undertaking policy review and development and participating in or leading projects relating to the delivery of services to the community, and recruitment of screening participants.

You will need:

  1. Demonstrated strategic, conceptual, analytical and creative skills, with the ability to understand the political, social and organisational environment impacting on the THS, and the broader Government.
  2. High level understanding of strategic cancer screening, screening recruitment and cancer prevention issues from a population health perspective.
  3. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies and plans increase screening rates.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working 20.52 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 18 November 2028.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: General Stream, Band 6

$107,899 to $122,292 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
