Job description:

In accordance with quality improvement guidelines, the Patient Flow Assistant provides: • Hospital aide services and general housekeeping to the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) Transit Lounge. • Support and assistance to the Clinical Coordinator - Transit Lounge and Nurse Manager - Patient Flow to facilitate the provision of an organisational approach to delivery of care to inpatients across the LGH campus.

The Team:

The LGH Transit Lounge is a unit within the Patient Access and Flow department. Operating in a fast-paced environment, it manages a high volume of patients between 08:30 and 18:00, Monday to Friday. The lounge supports patients who are awaiting discharge, transfer, or admission to an available bed.

As a small and collaborative unit, the Transit Lounge offers valuable opportunities for professional growth and development.

The Role:

The Patient Flow Assistant provides general housekeeping services including monitoring of equipment, maintenance of linen stocks including handling of general and clinical waste, ordering and maintaining stock.  The Patient Flow Assistant also assists in the transfer of patients where required across campus to expedite access to inpatient beds and encourage patient flow through the LGH campus via the Transit Lounge under the direction of the Registered Nurse and the Nurse Unit Manager.

You will need:

  • Exercise reasonable care in the performance of duties consistent with the relevant Work Health and Safety (WH&S) legislation and hazard identification.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes
  • Communicate effectively with other staff, patients and their family/carers.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term part time, day worker position, working 32 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible until 20 June 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $63,110 to $66,049 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
