Job description:

The Tasmanian Emergency Air Service represents a collaborative effort between Ambulance Tasmania, Tasmania Police and our aviation contractor. The capacity to work collegially is pivotal to the role within a tightly-knit and highly motivated team environment.

The Team:

The position of Intensive Care Flight Paramedic demands advanced clinical reasoning and proficiency in risk management. As an experienced clinical practitioner, you will function both autonomously and as an integral part of a multidisciplinary Critical Care Team alongside a Consultant Doctor or Senior Registrar.

The responsibilities encompass navigating a variety of demanding operational scenarios, including HEMS, Search and Rescue (SAR), and wilderness missions. Consequently, a superior level of physical fitness is imperative for success in this role.

This is a challenging and professionally rewarding position, offering opportunities for growth and personal development in a dynamic helicopter emergency service.

The Role:

  • Attend to members of the community requiring clinical care and treatment via ambulance services.
  • Independently or as part of a team deliver an advanced level of pre-hospital clinical care in accordance with approved clinical practice guidelines for Flight Paramedics – Rotary Wing.
  • Maintain constant contact with the State Communications Centre, in accordance with Ambulance Tasmania (AT) policies and protocols.
  • Maintain a prescribed level of knowledge in advanced ambulance care practices, including contemporary skills and knowledge in advanced life support and the correct application of ambulance equipment.
  • Complete all relevant documentation with respect to clinical services, training provided and changes to the working environment and equipment.

Details of appointment:

Permanent part time, shift worker position, working 19 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $144957 to $146394 per annum pro rata. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Ambulance Tasmania Agreement 2022

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Intensive Care Paramedic with a Graduate Certificate in Emergency Health (Aero-medical Retrieval) or equivalent as determined by the Service

  • Registered with the Paramedicine Board of Australia

  • Current Driver’s Licence
