The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for Staff Specialist Paediatrician – Tasmanian Community Paediatric Service (TCPS).
The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team and work collaboratively to support the wellbeing of children who have been referred to TCPS. The priority of the team will be to focus on health and wellbeing assessments, early intervention and early identification of supports to prevent problems or harm occurring in the first place and this will be undertaken through Kids Care Clinics.
The Kids Care Clinics are outpatient clinics in the community setting for children and young people referred to the Tasmanian Community Paediatric service through a statewide referral process

The Role
- Patient Care:
- Medical care of patients.
- Undertake procedures as required in the area of practice.
- Teaching:
- Undertake undergraduate clinical teaching.
- Provide supervision and training of post graduate trainees.
- Research:
- Maintain involvement in research activities.
- Administrative and Quality Improvement:
- Provide administrative and quality improvement functions for units as required
- Work closely with corresponding nursing staff and support staff in the area of practice.
- Participation in disaster preparedness planning.
- Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training.

Salary
Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award
A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.
Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $216,300 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $296,640 with further salary increments available.
- Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 - $310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $28,786 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year).
- Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,974 pro rata per annum.
- Relocation allowance, if appropriate.
- On call allowance % of Base Salary.
- All other allowances as per current Award.
- And subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary plus on-call, pro rata) of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid.
Other Benefits:

Details of Appointment
Permanent, part-time, day work (with on-call), working 30.4 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Essential Requirements
- Holds specialist registration; or
- Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway; or
- Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
