Who We Are
The Roy Fagan Centre (RFC) is Tasmania’s statewide specialised inpatient mental health facility for older persons, and part of Older Person’s Mental Health Service (OPMHS). We provide compassionate, person-centred care to individuals experiencing acute mental ill health, neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia, and complex psychiatric conditions. Our multidisciplinary team works across four purpose-built units, each designed to support dignity, safety, and therapeutic engagement.

Our patients are older Tasmanians age 65+, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50+, who require specialised mental health support. We also support individuals with young-onset neurodegenerative conditions.

The Role:
The Ward Aide provides hands-on support to nursing and allied health staff in delivering daily care and rehabilitation services to clients across various settings. This includes assisting with personal care, client activities, domestic tasks, safety monitoring, and contributing to a clean, safe, and supportive environment under professional supervision.
You will need:
- Demonstrated capacity to work with people with a mental or physical illness, along with an understanding of their rehabilitation and care needs, or the ability to acquire the same.
- An understanding of legal requirements and relevant policies of the practice setting, including work health and safety requirements, or the ability to acquire the same.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision and work harmoniously as a member of multidisciplinary team.

Details of appointment:
- Multiple Permanent, full time and part time, shift worker positions available, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
- 1x Fixed term, full time, shift worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until November 2025.
- 1x Fixed term, part time, shift worker position, working 54.72 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until June 2026.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $63,110 to $66,049 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
