Job description:

Be the welcoming face of 22 Elizabeth Street and provide vital admin support to the Office of the Chief Risk Officer team.

The Office of the Chief Risk Officer (OCRO) leads risk, safety, quality, and assurance functions across the Department of Health. Based at 22 Elizabeth Street in Hobart—a lively hub shared by several Department business units—we’re a friendly and supportive team that genuinely enjoys working together. The Role:

As the Administrative Assistant, you will provide essential administrative and clerical support to staff and clients at 22 Elizabeth Street, under the direction of the Office of the Chief Risk Officer (OCRO). A key part of the role involves acting as the receptionist for 22 Elizabeth Street, a central hub for several Department of Health business units. You will be the first point of contact for visitors and telephone enquiries, managing a wide range of internal and external stakeholder interactions with professionalism and discretion. Additional responsibilities include managing emails and enquiries, coordinating bookings and deliveries, maintaining electronic records, and supporting a variety of administrative processes. Working closely with a collaborative and supportive team, you’ll contribute to quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives across the OCRO.

You will need to:

  • Provide frontline and telephone reception service, including responding to a broad range of in-person and telephone enquiries from internal and external stakeholders, and exercise discretion when referring the query to Department of Health (DoH) or office of the Chief Risk Officer (OCRO).
  • Monitor and maintain the reception mailboxes and respond to general enquiries relating to DoH services and refer non-standard / complex enquiries to the relevant DoH and OCRO staff members.
  • Undertake general administrative duties including mail processing, photocopying and scanning, collation and distribution of documents and correspondence, filing, and routine ordering and processing activities relevant to the office environment.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $66,049 to $70,993 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
