The Team:
The North West Cancer Service operates at the North West Regional Hospital and supports Oncology patients and their careers. The Social Work Assistant will work as part of the Allied Health team. Who work closely with the medical, nursing and administration teams to ensure patients are supported during their treatment and beyond. The service is focused on being compassionate and delivering excellent care to improve outcomes for our consumers, workforce and community.
The Role:
The primary purpose is to assist the Social Workers to deliver quality care to oncology patients and their families and careers.
You will need:
- It is desirable that you have studied, or willing to commit to study, in a relevant health course.
- It is desirable that you have experience in the health care setting, or a client care role combined with administration experience.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible until 31 July 2026.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $67,193 to $72,126 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

Eligibility:
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance

Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent qualification, or a commitment to attain this qualification

Tertiary student of an approved Social Work program of study at a recognised tertiary institution

Relevant experience in a health care setting

Knowledge and understanding of community and welfare resources
