
The Team:
The Core Laboratory is 24/7 operation and performs a wide range of testing in Transfusion Medicine, Clinical Chemistry, Coagulation and Haematology.
The Role:
The Medical Scientist:
- Primarily works within the Core Laboratory which provides a 24-hours, 7 days a week diagnostic service in Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Coagulation and Blood Bank.
- Works across all areas of this multidisciplinary laboratory and acts as a sole scientist on the out of hours roster and participates in the emergency on call roster.
You will need to:
- Perform the analyses of clinical samples required for the provision of routine and out of hours service.
- Perform routine and specialised tests in the area of Pathology testing with accurate documentation of results and reports.
- Follow guidelines in reporting results, including telephoning urgent and critical results.

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time, shift worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $73,384 to $111,364 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

Satisfactory completion of an appropriate allied health professional course of study at a recognised tertiary institution and registered with the relevant Board or, in the case of unregulated professions, eligible for membership of the relevant professional association.
*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change.
