Job description:

Health Planning sits within System Management and Reform (SMR). SMR leads the planning, purchasing and monitoring of health services for the Department of Health, while also providing strategic policy and intergovernmental advice to ensure Tasmania’s health system meets its objectives.

The Team:

Health Planning sits within System Management and Reform (SMR). SMR leads the planning, purchasing and monitoring of health services for the Department of Health, while also providing strategic policy and intergovernmental advice to ensure Tasmania’s health system meets its objectives.

Health Planning engages and works collaboratively across the whole of the Tasmanian health system to undertake service planning and support reform programs to improve service delivery and patient outcomes, facilitates clinical innovation and improvement through clinical and consumer engagement, and supports the development of models of care and service frameworks to reflect contemporary practice.

The Role:

Under the broad direction of the Health Planning Unit Management team, the objectives of the Senior Program Officer are to:

  • Provide high level project and program support for statewide projects and programs across Health Planning, including service development programs of work.
  • Participate in effective collaboration and communication with a wide range of key stakeholders internal and external to the Department of Health, including primary, hospital and community service providers and members of the public.
  • Apply a solutions-focus to complex issues, by investigating, researching and analysing challenges and providing strategic recommendations.
  • Assisting in the provision of high quality, accurate and timely reporting and undertake other data management activities where required.
  • Contributing to broad service development programs and health planning activities to support the Agency's objectives, strategic directions and significant state and national processes.

You will need:

  • Demonstrated experience undertaking research and analysis to inform policy and service development, and managing competing stakeholder needs to provide strategic recommendations.
  • Proven project and/or change management skills including planning, managing risk, coordinating resources, interpersonal relations, time management and the ability to influence outcomes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management and experience in the preparation of project documentation to ensure clear communication and alignment of stakeholders throughout the project life cycle, such as communication plans, risk registers and reports.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $107,899 to $122,292 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
