
The Team:
The Patient Travel Assistance Scheme (PTAS) is a vital program run by the Department of Health Tasmania that helps residents access essential healthcare by subsidising travel and accommodation costs when services are not available locally. The PTAS team is based at Parkside Community Mental Health Team facilities, in Burnie. and is part of the Community, Mental Health & Wellbeing division. Compassionate, dedicated, and service-oriented, the team works closely with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure equitable access to medical services across Tasmania
The Role:
Provides high level clerical support within the PTAS Unit, which entails a high standard of customer focused reception, database and clerical functions in support of patient travel, operating within the parameters of established PTAS policies and procedures associated with clinical, financial and administrative requirements.
You will need to:
- Establish eligibility of patients and their escorts for financial assistance for travel and accommodation under the PTAS.
- Receive and effectively managing all incoming telephone, email and face to face patient travel enquiries.
- Facilitate airline and accommodation reservations for patients and approved escorts.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term full time day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of twelve months.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $66,049 to $70,993 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
