The Team:
The Launceston General Hospital is recruiting for a Senior Paediatric Registrar and Paediatric Registrar jobs for 2026!! With the implementation of the new EBA providing competitive wages and paid education time, there is no better time to work in Tasmania.
We are a regional hospital with a brand new and exciting Paediatric short stay unit; as well as a 34 bed General Paediatric ward, 12 bed Level 2 neonatal nursery and Paediatric outpatients. The unit is staffed 24 hours a day by registrars and HMO staff, with consultant oversight on site during working hours, and on call overnight. The current staffing is 9 registrars/ HMO, a Senior Registrar and 7 paediatric consultants.
We pride ourselves on being a lovely supportive team and you will be very well supported in this position. The unit has an active education program and is accredited by the RACP for Advanced Training for General Paediatrics with a Perinatal Component, Community/ Developmental Paediatrics and Rural rotations. We are also a secondment site for basic trainees from the Royal Hobart Hospital, and if you are early in your career, this position will be a good springboard to gain experience prior to entering the RACP training program.
The Role:
- General Paediatrics, including ward and Emergency department presentations. Short stay unit on the ward.
- Neonatal ward - babies from 32 weeks gestational age, 1500 deliveries annually
- Paediatric outpatients, with both medical and developmental patient load, as well as an Ambulatory care unit within paediatric outpatients.
- You will be rostered to all of these areas on a rotating basis.

Details of appointment:
Multiple fixed term full time, shift worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 2 February 2026 until 31 January 2027. Appointments may be available for longer periods of time to the successful applicants
- You will receive 10 hours of paid, protected training time per fortnight, pro rata.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.
Salary:
Medical Practitioner Level 5 - 11 $134,930 - $189,005 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging
- Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022
