
The Team:
Our Biomedical Engineering team is dedicated to ensuring the smooth operation of medical equipment across hospitals and regional health centres throughout Tasmania. With a regional presence in the South, North, and Northwest, our team operates cohesively within a statewide structure. The team provides onsite support for managing all medical equipment, including acceptance and compliance testing, as well as routine and corrective maintenance services, thereby contributing to better health outcomes for the Tasmanian community.
The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Biomedical Technician to lead our team's activities in the Northwest region, with a specific focus on managing the biomedical inventory at Mersey Community Hospital and North West Regional Hospital. As a senior member of the team, the incumbent will participate in and contribute to a broad range of activities at both the workshop and clinical levels. Responsibilities include hands-on repair and testing, managing service agreements and contractors, and providing specialized technical advice on the appropriate selection and purchase of biomedical equipment, ensuring compliance with all relevant documentation and data requirements.
You will need
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electronic or Electrical Engineering from a recognised institution or an equivalent qualification appropriate to the nature of the work.
- Participation in an on call roster and intrastate travel is a requirement of this role.
- In-depth technical and high-level working knowledge of medical equipment, electronic fault finding and repair, computer-controlled systems and devices, and a demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Australian Standards in Biomedical Engineering with an emphasis on Work Health and Safety.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Location: North West
Salary: $98,255 to $103,069 per annum + our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
