The Department of Health is seeking suitably qualified applicants for a Clinical Nurse Specialist (504801d) vacancy.

The Team:
The Burnie Adult Community Mental Health Service (BACMHS NW) is a case management service that provides expert mental health care including assertive case management, triage, holistic physical and mental health assessment, clinical risk management and crisis intervention within the community setting.
The Role:
The Clinical Lead is a senior allied health professional who plays a pivotal role in shaping clinical excellence and service delivery across Tasmania’s public health system. Operating as part of the Allied Health Service Leadership Team, the Clinical Lead provides strategic direction, mentorship, and support to clinical staff, with a strong focus on education, innovation, and quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support clinical education and professional development initiatives.
- Drive evidence-based practice and continuous improvement in patient care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance service integration and outcomes.
- Contribute to workforce planning and capability building in line with the Health Workforce 2040 strategy

As part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Services Principles, National Metal Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Clinical Nurse Consultant - Clinical Lead will provide high level support to the Team Leader, within the relevant community mental health service, in the provision of:
- Leadership and direction in the strategic development and management of a comprehensive multidisciplinary community mental health team.
- Effective management of specified human and physical resources.
- Leadership, direction and change management to facilitate the progression of the current Mental Health Service Strategic Plan through the implementation of the associated model of care, and relevant service policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Optimal clinical processes and individual client outcomes.
- Enhanced consumer and carer participation at all levels of the service.
You will need:
Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital based program that led to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023.
