Job description:

Our Advanced Pharmacy Technicians work alongside our pharmacists as part of our Clinical Pharmacy Team and are responsible for completing best possible medication histories (BPMHs) and supporting discharges and transitions of care for patients across the North West region

 

The Role:

Our Advanced Pharmacy Technicians work alongside our pharmacists as part of our Clinical Pharmacy Team and are responsible for completing best possible medication histories (BPMHs) and supporting discharges and transitions of care for patients across the North West region. These roles involve a high level of patient-facing activity, work alongside medical and nursing staff and require a high level of initiative and use professional judgment.

All Advanced Pharmacy Technicians complete a structured training process to become micro-credentialled in their work-activities and are required to participate in continuous learning activities. Advanced Pharmacy Technicians need a willingness to seek and implement advice and feedback to shape their practice, particularly regarding scope of practice.

Our Clinical Pharmacy Service has truly embraced the Clinical Advanced Pharmacy Technician role and we are excited to offer longer-term contracts in these roles.

The Team:

The North West Regional Hospital and Mersey Community Hospital provide high-quality healthcare to support patients and consumers across the North West of Tasmania. Our pharmacy team collaborate closely with medical, nursing and allied health teams to deliver exceptional, patient-centred, medicine-related care. With patient safety and professional development at the heart of our ethos, we are committed to fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.

 

You will need:

  • Extensive experience as a pharmacy technician, preferably in a hospital setting, with the ability to articulate factors determining scope of practice.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, and the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate sensitively and respectfully with a diverse range of people including health professionals and the public.
  • Demonstrated complex problem solving and conflict resolution skills, including experience in resolving practice-based issues and attention to detail and the ability to follow pre-determined procedures accurately and diligently.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of 12 months 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $81,915 to $94,263 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Possess or be actively enrolled in Certificate III or IV in Health Services Assistance (Hospital and Community Health Pharmacy Assistance) from a recognised education institution; or
  • Possess or be actively enrolled in Certificate III or IV in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support from a recognised educational institution; or
  • An Associate Diploma from a recognised educational institution, or an equivalent qualification, that is relevant to the work of a Pharmacy Technician

*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
