Job description:

Exciting opportunity for an Administrative Assistant to join the Department of Health!

The Team:

Cancer and Blood Services (CaBS) at the Royal Hobart Hospital is a comprehensive service dedicated to cancer and blood disorder patients including the statewide bone marrow transplant service. The unit provides treatment, research, clinical trials and education regarding these diseases and survivorship care.

Multi- disciplinary teams, consisting of medical, surgical and radiation oncologists, nurses, radiation therapist and allied health professionals, develop comprehensive and coordinated treatment plans, ensuring patients get treatment and a team tailored to their individual needs.

The Role:

Under the general supervision of the Administrative Manager will

  • Provide face to face and telephone reception service for Cancer and Blood Services
  • Ensure sensitive and confidential handling of all enquiries and that information is provided to the correct clinician in a timely manner.
  • Undertake general administrative and clerical duties as required by senior staff and other clinicians within the team
  • Liase with a variety of personnel, including staff, clients, and outside organisations.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation ‘s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including the development and implantation of safety systems, improvement initiatives and related training, ensuring that quality and safety improvement processes are in place and acted upon.
  • Monitor and maintain filing systems, office supplies and equipment, and organise equipment maintenance and repairs as required.

You will need:

  1. Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in contemporary office administration practices, systems and software including word processing, spread sheeting and data entry skills.
  2. Demonstrated ability to operate computerised health information systems.
  3. Well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and the demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality whilst working within a client focused health care environment.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term part time, day worker position, working 68.4 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until December 2025

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $66,049 to $70,993 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
