The Team:
Northern Tasmanian Pathology Service (NTPS) provides Pathology services to Launceston General Hospital and the Northern regions of Tasmania. We are the only public pathology service operating in North Tasmania. NTPS aims to deliver a high-quality service to general practitioners, medical specialists and private hospitals, providing patients with no out of pocket expenses for Medicare eligible tests. The team at NTPS comprises a large team involving multi-disciplinary scientists, technicians, non-technical staff and Pathologists.
The Role:
- Contribute to the provision of effective pathology services in Haematology.
- Under general guidance from the Scientist in Charge Haematology, perform professional work in one or more sections of the Pathology Department.
- Participation in the out of hours call-back service roster is a requirement of this role.
- This is a shift work position requiring staff to work out of hours as rostered. As defined within the Health and Human Services (Tasmanian State Service) Award: ‘Shift Work’ means work performed in accordance with a roster and may include day shift, afternoon shift, night shift and Saturdays and Sundays.
You will need:
- Tertiary qualification/program of study in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Science or Applied Science or equivalent suitable to the position from a recognised institution.
- Eligible for membership with a relevant professional body such as Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, part time, shift worker position, working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as you can join us.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $73,834 to $111,364 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Union Wages Agreement 2022
