
The Team:
As part of Public Health Services, Tobacco Control is a small but dedicated team working to improve and protect the health and wellbeing of all Tasmanians through the enforcement of State and National legislation. The Tobacco control team work closely with other government agencies, retailers and community groups to reduce the harm caused by Tobacco and other smoking and nicotine related products.
The Role:
As the Manager Tobacco Control you will provide high level advice to senior leadership on matters related to tobacco control and enforcement, coordinate tobacco control activities and manage the operations of the tobacco control team within Public Health Services.
You will be responsible for monitoring the sale and supply of tobacco and nicotine-based products within the State to ensure full implementation of departmental policy, work practices and relevant legislation.
You will lead the Tobacco Control Team to ensure that all licensing and enforcement work is conducted in line with the relevant legislation and national guidance You will be responsible for ensuring that inspections and investigations are carried out in a safe and compliant manner. You will overseas and manage the preparation of prosecution briefs and provide evidence in court or to tribunals, as required.

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $128,102 - $134,832 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Minimum 5 years professional experience in relevant field
- Cert IV in Government Investigations
- Current Driver’s License
