Job description:

This role provides critical support and supervision to the Ambulance Tasmania Operational team in Northwest Tasmania. You will also assist with delivering tactical and short-term planning and deployment of emergency response resources.

The Team:

The Operational Supervisor team is part of the Northwest Regional Leadership Team and are responsible for all aspects of day-to-day ambulance service delivery within the Northwest region. They are also responsible for the supervision and support of the operational team and resources with the region. An Operational Supervisor provides tactical and short-term strategic planning, deployment of emergency response resources and development and maintenance of links with other health professionals and emergency services.

This position is based out of Burnie ambulance station on a 4x4 Day/Day/Nigh/Night roster.

The Role:

  • Provide overall direction and supervision of operations within the region.
  • Provide expert advice to the Director and make recommendations in respect of improving the delivery of ambulance services to the region.
  • Ensure that a high standard of patient care is delivered by implementing and evaluating appropriate quality assurance programs and reviewing activities and performance within the region.
  • Supervise the human, physical and financial resources of the region, including assistance with management of budgets.
  • Develop, recommend and implement policies related to the resourcing and servicing of the activities within region.
  • Liaise with local hospitals, emergency services, other health care providers, and the community on matters of common concern.
  • Undertake clinical practice as required.

You will need 

  • Working knowledge, or ability to acquire knowledge, of relevant State Service Acts, Regulations and Policies together with relevant Acts, Regulations and policies pursuant to Ambulance Tasmania for the effective functioning of Ambulance Tasmania.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and manage ambulance work teams, volunteers and independent ambulance service providers in service delivery and tactical command.
  • Contemporary management skills in order to effectively and efficiently manage the human, physical and financial resources of the Region.
  • Ability to consistently display high level interpersonal, communication and supervision skills in an emergency service with work stressors, competing priorities, conflict situations and resourcing issues, to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent Ambulance Tasmania at meetings, public forums and other events, and present Service policy in a pro-active manner.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time shift worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $156,149 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Ambulance Tasmania Agreement 2022.

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Paramedicine Board of Australia

  • Holds a Bachelor of Paramedic Science or other qualification approved by the Service and relevant work experience with an additional qualification in management or equivalent

  • Current Driver’s Licence
