Job description:

Provide leadership and supervisory support to the highly specialised Child and Youth Mental Health Service, within the newly formed Out of Home Care program team. This program supports clinical service to young people and their families / significant others experiencing mental health concerns.

The Department of Health is seeking suitably qualified applicants for two Clinical Nurse Consultant Lead Practitioners for CYMHS Out Of Home Care program (529956, 529956d) vacancies, one in the North and one in the Northwest of Tasmania.

We are seeking senior nursing professionals with experience in clinical leadership, complex case management, assessment, counselling and/or therapy, and within mental health or relevant/related sector would be ideal.  You would be working within a well-supported, innovative, diverse multidisciplinary team to provide developmentally appropriate treatment with young people, and their families. 

Our Aim:

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service in Tasmania is growing! We are seeking passionate and dedicated Lead Practitioners to provide clinical services to young people and their families/significant others experiencing mental health concerns. The positions available are within our new teams which are currently being developed as initiatives under the CYMHS reform program (Youth, Youth Forensic, Out of Home Care).

The Lead Practitioner will have a passion for providing a person-centred approach and working within a multidisciplinary team environment, providing high level clinical leadership to the team.

  • Leadership training is available and provided by the Tasmanian Health Service in partnership with University of Tasmania.

The role will include:

  • Being part of a dynamic and well supported team committed to delivering high quality mental health services to young people, and their families/carers.
  • Undertaking clinical services through the provision of complex case management, assessment, and individual therapies, including the development and implementation of specialised treatment programs
  • Working alongside innovative team leaders and consultant psychiatrists to develop new child and youth mental health services in Tasmania. 
  • Leading and working with an amazing and diverse group of clinicians as part of the collaborative multidisciplinary team, including the provision of support and consultation to other team members as required.

North

  • Based in Launceston CBD.

  • Office is based in Burnie and Devonport.

Details of Appointment

Two permanent full time day worker positions working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

One position based in the North (Launceston), and one based in the North West (Burnie and Devonport).

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary:   $111,506 - $118,336 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum 
  • Relocation assistance and visa support may be available for the right applicant
  • A multidisciplinary allowance may also apply
  • Salary range is in accordance with Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital based program that lead to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom.
  1. Satisfactory completion of an appropriate allied health professional course of study at a recognised tertiary institution and registered with the relevant Board or, in the case of unregulated professions, eligible for membership of the relevant professional association.
  2. Current Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  1. A minimum of 3 years current post graduate experience in child, adolescent and/or youth mental health or relevant field.
  2. Training in relevant and appropriate evidence-based therapeutic interventions that are developmentally appropriate such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Family Therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  3. Current Driver’s Licence
