Job description:

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) - Acute Pain Service uses a multidisciplinary approach plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate advanced nursing care relating to acute pain management. The Role:

  • The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) - Acute Pain Service uses a multidisciplinary approach plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate advanced nursing care relating to acute pain management. Foster an environment that values and provides education, teaching, research and quality activities in relation to acute pain management.

Duties:

  • Education of staff and patients in pain management. Including the development and implementation of up to date evidence based practices. With service delivery through the development of resource materials and in-service delivery. Development of learning tools and competencies.
  • Patient referral review for acute pain. Triaging, investigate, and review of patients for the development of plan formulation. Including follow-up of efficacy and safety of patient post plan implementation. Documentation and communication with the anaesthetist, nursing staff, and treating team on progress or changes.
  • Data collection, review analysis, action of activity and outcomes for benchmarking of local national governing bodies key performance indicators. Regular auditing and reporting to local and state-wide committees.
  • Policy and protocol development, implementation, and evaluation in conjunction within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure ongoing safe and effective delivery of acute pain management within the scope of the Tasmanian health Service.
  • Management of post-acute pain service including clinical and governance management of current acute pain practices and service delivery. Ensure adherence to quality and safety and best practice in line with the national standards.
  • Management of referrals. Provide consultancy advice and support to home teams and nursing staff.
  • Participate in accreditation of anaesthetic department with ANZCA. Research on current practices and implementation of changes if required.
  • Triage of daily patient lists.
  • Discharge planning for all patients’ analgesic requirements.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing by a mutually agreed upon date. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $114,851 to 121,886 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Benefits available to eligible candidates:

  • Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.
  • Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Holds a minimum of 5 years post registration
  • Minimum 5 years in an advanced practice role
  • Holds, or working towards, a qualification relevant to the speciality area
