Join the Department of Health's Child and Youth Mental Health Service team in Northwest Tasmania, providing crucial assessment, case management and counselling support to children and young people.

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) is a well-established mental health service in the Northwest region of Tasmania with a highly skilled and passionate team of clinician's, who are seeking Clinical Nurse Specialists to come and join our well supported and diverse team.

We are seeking nurses with experience in assessment, case management, counselling and/or therapy, and within mental health or relevant/related sector would be ideal.  You would be working within a multidisciplinary team to provide developmentally appropriate treatment with children, young people, and their families. 

Our Aim:

CYMHS Northwest aims to provide timely access to evidence based, trauma informed treatment for children and young people (and their family/carers) who are struggling/experiencing difficulties with their mental health that is negatively impacting on them and their engagement in school, with peers and/or other aspects of their lives. 

Your Role and the CYMHS Northwest Team:

  • Be part of a dynamic and well supported team committed to delivering high quality mental health services to children, young people and their families/carers
  • Undertake clinical services through the provision of assessment, case management, and individual therapies, including the development and implementation of specialised treatment programs
  • Work with an amazing and diverse group of clinicians as part of the collaborative multidisciplinary team, including the provision of support and consultation to other team members as required
  • Supervision, peer support and ongoing professional learning are part of the culture of the CYMHS NW Community Team
  • Consult and liaise with the broader health system including GP’s and other Agencies to optimise service effectiveness, efficiency and continuity of care.

CYMHS in Tasmanian is undergoing Reform with the exciting development and implementation of new teams working across the state to improve the mental health outcomes of young people and their support systems. Relocation support is available for successful candidates.

Details of appointment:

Multiple permanent full time day worker positions, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $106,570 to $112,440 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type 

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Benefits available to eligible candidates:

  • Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.
  • Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria

  • Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital based program that leads to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom

  • Current Working with Children Registration

  • Holds or is working towards tertiary qualifications in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Care

  • Current Driver’s Licence
