The Team:
The Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest tertiary referral centre, and our pharmacy team provide comprehensive services across diverse areas, including inpatient care, outpatient clinics, virtual care and high-acuity settings. Our pharmacy team collaborate closely with medical, nursing and allied health teams to deliver exceptional, patient-centred, medicine-related care. With patient safety and professional development at the heart of our ethos, we are committed to fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
The Role:
The Dispensary Manager will:
- Manage a safe and efficient medication dispensing service to inpatients and outpatients at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
- Manage the work of other team members and provide supervision and leadership.
- Ensure medication supply practices comply with legal requirements, professional ethics, and departmental and hospital policies.
- Provide teaching and supervision of students from the University of Tasmania (School of Pharmacy and Rural Clinical School).

You will need:
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution, and the ability to communicate with sensitivity and respect, including demonstrating problem solving skills to resolve practice-based issues and interpersonal conflict.
- Experience developing a team of pharmacy staff in a dispensary setting
- Significant experience in hospital pharmacy in a range of practice settings or services

Details of appointment:
Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary:
$123,717 to $138,296 per annum + our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022
Allowances:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $130,900 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
- A market allowance of $10,000 per annum pro rata is approved until 17 May 2026, this allowance will be reviewed prior to expiry

- Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia or completion of an overseas qualification eligible for skills assessment through the Australian Pharmacy Council
- Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
