Job description:

Exciting opportunity for an Assistant in Nursing to join the Department of Health!

The Role:

The AIN will deliver nursing care under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses to provide nursing care within the AIN scope of practice. You can expect to provide care through patient rounding, essential in the prevention of falls, patient vital signs, personal hygiene, dietary care and involvement in care improvement initiatives for our patients.

You will need:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in patient/client care, with an ability to assist patients/clients to meet their personal care needs and perform activities of daily living as required.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member in an acute care team environment.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills, including written, verbal and numeracy skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to adhere to safe manual handling and infection control procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality.

The Team:

The inpatient oncology and haematology ward is a twenty-one bed unit which specialises in the care of patients with a diagnosis of cancer or a haematology condition such as leukaemia, myeloma or lymphoma, and who may be receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy or palliative care. Specialist medical, nursing and allied health professional staff make up the inpatient oncology team assisting with the development of individual treatment plans and discharge planning for integrating patients back into the community. 

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, part time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working 48 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of twelve (12) months.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. 

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $63,092 to $68,940 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

Allowances: 

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Acute Care); or
  • Certificate III Individual Support (Ageing Specialisation); or
  • Is currently an undergraduate Bachelor of Nursing student who has completed their first-year clinical practice placement; or
  • A current Diploma of Nursing student who has completed their first clinical practice placement
