Exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Consultant to join the Department of Health!

The Role:

The Clinical Nurse Consultant - Paediatric Unit works in partnership with the wider Paediatric Services team to provide a nurse consultancy and coordination service to facilitate compassionate care of patients. 

In addition to complex care coordination, other responsibilities of the role include the development and implementation of clinical policy and guidelines, quality improvement, Safety and Quality and supporting the team with clinical expertise, advice and interventions. 

You will need:

  • Extensive experience with demonstrated advanced level of clinical expertise in Paediatric nursing, with an awareness and understanding of the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide contemporary leadership together with the ability to initiate, guide and motivate a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and evaluate change and develop direction in clinical practice through planning, quality improvement, research, and clinical risk management activities to address emerging service needs in relation to Safety and Quality.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills and proven ability to present, report, educate, influence and be credible to a range of health professionals and consumers.
  • Demonstrated advanced specialist knowledge, experience, and clinical skills in relation to Safety and Quality and the NSQHS Standards and other relevant professional organisations in the care of children and young people, with a demonstrated awareness of professional, legal, and ethical issues.

The Team:

Paediatric Services at the Royal Hobart Hospital provides inpatient, outpatient and outreach services for the children and young people of Tasmania. Our core values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence form the basis of our mission to provide safe and effective care. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working 56 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of approximately twelve (12) months.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $111,506 to $118,336 pro rata per annum + our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

Allowances: 

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum
  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
  • Working with Children Registration
