Job description:

The Registered Nurse - Community: • Consistent with ongoing experience strengthens health outcomes through the provision of safe quality, clinically appropriate nursing care in partnership with patients/clients, their families and other health professionals within the defined community practice area.

The Team:

  • The George Town District Hospital and Community Services provide 15 acute care beds, physiotherapy, dental and podiatry services, and other visiting providers. Other services provided by the Hospital include Palliative care, Community Nursing, Home Help/Personal Care.
  • Nursing quarters are available, co-located on site for staff to utilise with shared kitchen and bathroom amenities.
  • George Town Hospital is approximately a 35-minute drive from Launceston, George Town Hospital is centrally located, close to supermarkets/eateries and a five-minute drive to the beaches of Low Head.

The Role:

  • In collaboration with members of the healthcare team plan, implement and evaluate patient/client care.
  • Interact effectively with patients’/clients’ families and other health team members to facilitate the provision of optimum patient/client care.
  • Active involvement in maintaining and continually improving the quality of patient/client care. This may include participation in research and evidence-based practice.
  • The CN is accountable to and works under the general direction and guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager/Team Leader and/or Clinical Coordinator/Clinical Nurse Consultant/Clinical Nurse Specialist and receives guidance and support from other senior experienced Registered Nurses and health professionals for initiating, implementing, and evaluating quality nursing care.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, casual, position working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible for approximately twenty four (24) months.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $75,902 to $102,908 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023 and Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Interim Agreement 2013

Allowances: 

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

  • Access to the Grade 4 salary range $96,558 - $102,908 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
  • Remote and Rural Professional Development Allowance of an additional salary allowance of 4%

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

  • Current Driver’s Licence

*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
