The Role:
The Smithton District Hospital are seeking motivated Registered Nurses to join their team.
The Registered Nurse:
- Strengthens health outcomes through the provision of safe quality, clinically appropriate nursing care in partnership with patients/clients, their families and other health professionals.

The Team:
Smithton District Hospital (SDH) and Community Health Centre is a small sub-acute public hospital situated in Smithton, Tasmania, serving the entire Circular Head region with a catchment population of 8,000. The hospital features 12 subacute beds dedicated to general medicine, post-acute care, palliative care, and end-of-life services. Additionally, SDH includes a 3-bay emergency first response unit staffed by nurses and General Practitioners who provide on-call medical services. SDH provides a supportive environment for RNs to work at the extend scope of practice of a rural nurse.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term, casual, shift worker position, working as and when required, commencing from November 2024 for a 12 month period.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar casual vacancies.
Salary: $75,902 to $102,908 pro rata, per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023
- Access to the Grade 4 salary range $96,558 - $102,908 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
Allowances:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Remote and Rural Professional Development Allowance of an additional salary allowance of 4%
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
