The Role:

Within an acute care framework, proactively provide general medical patient consultancy, expert advice and the coordination of general medical care from the admission process through to discharge.

Support the early identification of patients deemed suitable for care under the general physicians and liaise with the relevant services to facilitate a timely transfer from the Emergency Department to an appropriate General Medical inpatient unit, including Acute Care services and Community services such as the Hospital in the Home (HITH) service.

Maintain a comprehensive care network, build and maintain links across all clinical streams to ensure best practice care is provided to general medical patients in a timely and safe manner.

You will need:

  • Provide leadership in contemporary nursing practice, promoting a professional focus and an environment conducive to innovation and change.
  • Utilise extensive and specialised knowledge of general medicine and cancer services to promote and facilitate a clinical teaching and learning environment and build capacity to enhance the care of general medical and cancer patients within the clinical stream
  • Develop, deliver and implement educational programs for nursing and multidisciplinary staff through the identification of current and future trends in nursing practice, education, and research, and participate in the development and implementation of new initiatives which improve health care service delivery

The Team:

3A Rapid assessment medical Unit:

The Rapid Assessment Medical Unit (RAMU) at the Royal Hobart Hospital is a medical short-stay (up to 72 hours) inpatient unit. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team including a Consultant-led Medical home team, a Nursing team with specialist support from the General Medical Clinical Nurse Consultant, senior Allied Health professionals, and other services or supports as required.

The team provides timely assessment and access to treatment and management decisions for adult patients who meet the admission and exclusion criteria detailed in the Unit’s Model of Care.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part time, day worker position, working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $111,506 - $118,336 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Services) Agreement 2023

Allowances:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum
  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
