Job description:

The Department of Health are seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join their multidisciplinary team on Tasmania's North West Coast

Occupational Therapist – Permanent, Part Time

Tasmanian Health Service – North West Tasmania

To be Tasmanian is to pursue quality over quantity. We create, preserve, and protect the unusual. With quiet confidence, with passion and perseverance, we pursue the extraordinary. Could you be Tasmanian?

You can start your Occupational Therapy career anywhere. What’s different about Tasmania is our culture and our lifestyle. You will be encouraged to be yourself, to learn, to grow and to develop meaning in your work. You will have a powerful connection to your patients, and the community will encourage your success. Our isolation helps drive a culture of creation and human connection, which feels both old fashioned and… like the only future worth pursuing.

Here you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to breath-taking coastlines, National Parks, and incredible fresh produce crafted by locals. After a hard day at work, you don’t have to sit in traffic for an hour. You decompress with a coastal drive through quaint little towns or put your boots and tell it to the mountain.

Some people surf in the early mornings and weekends, or take painting classes, write novels, sell preserves at the farmers’ market, become a wine connoisseur. We are small enough in Tasmania for you to shape and influence your work and make a real impact every day. Yet we are big enough for you to feel part of something important, somewhere you can belong and be surrounded by diversity, friendships, and positive lifestyles. Tasmanians are connected to the land where we live, and to the stories of the people who have cared for this place for tens of thousands of years.

We are a close-knit group of 21 in our OT team, a mixture of locals and new Tasmanian adventurers. We rotate across all of the clinical services provided at both the North-West Regional and Mersey Community Hospitals including inpatients, rehabilitation, hand therapy, paediatrics and community. We are continuously growing, developing new services and re-designing old ones. It’s an exciting and rewarding place to work, featuring contemporary, evidence-informed practise that sees you closely linked to the whole multidisciplinary team. We’ll look after you from the very beginning, ensure you are fully inducted and welcomed into our culture. Your fellow Allied Health colleagues, as well as the Nursing, Medical and Surgical specialists will rely on you thriving in your work and will be invested in making this a reality. Take a look at the Statement of Duties below for more details.
