The Role:
As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Tradesperson - Carpenter/Joiner is responsible for the repair and installation of all carpenter trade related equipment, services, and facilities throughout the North West region of Tasmania.
As required, perform minor maintenance repairs and alteration to equipment, fixtures and fittings that are of a non-trade nature.

Successful candidates must demonstrate broad experience and knowledge in the building industry working as a qualified carpenter/joiner, an ability to exercise initiative and judgement in the resolution of day-to-day activities, a good communicator and team member, and a commitment to working safely carrying out their daily activities.

The Team:
The North West Regional Hospital based in Burnie Tasmania is a modern 180 bed facility providing high quality healthcare and specialist services to the community. The facility provides acute services for outlying areas such as King Island, West Coast, and Latrobe.
The carpenter role is paramount to the success of the site in ensuring that our facility, plant and equipment is well maintained to ensure high quality healthcare is provided to our community.
As site carpenter you will work alongside a multidisciplined team who provide an extensive range of expertise in plant and equipment within the North West region. The department is responsible for the maintenance and provision of the following services:
- Carpentry
- Painting
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- Mechanical
- Minor New Works
Details of appointment:
Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $71,661 to $77,455 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
Allowances:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
