The role:

  • Provide dental services, in line with the policies, protocols, and guidelines of the Agency and OHST, to eligible adults and children. This may include work in areas such as, but not limited to, community clinics, hospital theatres (to provide treatment under general anaesthetic), Special Care Dental Units, Correctional Services, outreach services.
  • Provide dental care for children whose required care is outside the scope of Dental Therapists and/or Oral Health Therapists and provide support to Dental Therapists and Oral Health Therapists as part of the integrated clinical team.
  • Assist in the development and advancement of the knowledge and professional skills of other staff within the team including Dental Therapists, Oral Health Therapists, Dental Prosthetists, Dental Assistants, Dental Technicians and other Dental Officers, and supervision of undergraduate students or mentoring of new graduate Dentists.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training.

Details of Appointment

Permanent and fixed term, full time and part time, day worker positions working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible. Positions available in the North-West, North and South of Tasmania

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $125,369 to $196,491 pro rata, per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Dental Officers Agreement 2022

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Registered with the Dental Board of Australia
  2. Current Working with Children Registration

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
  1. crimes of violence
  2. sex related offences
  3. serious drug offences
  4. crimes involving dishonesty
  1. Identification check
  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
