
About the Role
Join a collaborative multidisciplinary team where your work will make a genuine difference to children and young people in our school communities. As a Graduate School Psychologist , you’ll, play a key role in strengthening student wellbeing and supporting positive educational, social and emotional outcomes.
You’ll apply your developing clinical skills across a diverse scope of practice, including psychological assessment and diagnosis, therapeutic interventions and programs for individuals and groups, consultation and collaboration with school staff, parents and other health professionals and organisations.
You’ll be supported every step of the way with Psychology Board approved supervision required to meet general registration, alongside structured mentoring and professional development designed to help you confidently transition from graduate to fully registered psychologist.

This role offers a unique opportunity to apply for the DECYP School Psychologist Scholarship, providing $25,000 to support the cost of your studies while you launch your career in school psychology. More information available below.
About you:
- A Psychology graduate, having recently completed the relevant 6-year qualification in the previous 12 months, or by the end of January 2027.
- Sound knowledge of child and adolescent development, psychological assessment and diagnosis, and culturally safe intervention strategies, with a clear understanding of diversity and ethical practice with the ability to translate this into an educational setting.
- Desire to work within an educational environment, to support children, young people and their families.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with children and people from diverse backgrounds.

Condition of Employment
- Salary Range: $79,381.00.00 to $118,328.00 (per annum, pro rata) + superannuation
- Award/ Agreement: Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector)
- Classification: School Psychologist
Essential Requirements
- Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment)
- Must be registered as a provisional psychologist and completing an accredited pathway for General Registration as a Psychologist or hold General Registration having recently completed the relevant 6-year qualification in the previous 12 months, or by the end of January 2027.
- Applicants must be able to satisfy that upon completion of the accredited pathway; they are eligible to be registered as a psychologist within Tasmania in accordance with the provisions of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Tasmania) Act 2010.
Desirable Requirements
- A current driver's licence.
- Eligible for membership of the Australian Psychological Society.

DECYP School Psychology Scholarship
We would also encourage you to apply for the DECYP School Psychology Scholarship
The Scholarship provides $25,000 to support the costs of studying your course. Scholarship recipients will receive: $5,000 in your final year of study; another $10,000 when you commence your job; and $10,000 following completion of two years’ service as a DECYP School Psychologist.
The scholarship is available to candidates who can satisfy the below requirements:
- Must be registered as a provisional psychologist and completing an accredited pathway for General Registration as a Psychologist or hold General Registration having recently completed the relevant 6-year qualification in the previous 12 months, or by the end of January 2027.
- can demonstrate they will be eligible for employment as a DECYP School Psychologist after they have successfully completed their studies by meeting the essential requirements including Working with Vulnerable People registration, satisfying a pre-employment check
and the right to work in Australia.
A limited number of scholarships are available and will be awarded on merit. An offer of employment does not guarantee that you will be awarded a scholarship. Please refer to the DECYP School Psychology Scholarship Guidelines for more information including full eligibility requirements.
