Job description:

• Coordinate and manage the operation of all fire, safety & security systems for the Ashley Youth Detention Centre (AYDC). • Assist with the design, delivery, and evaluation of staff training regarding all aspects of safety and security at AYDC. • Develop and implement monitoring, quality assurance and audit procedures to ensure a high level of safety and security in accordance with Work Health and Safety legislation and Agency policies.

About the Role

  • Coordinate and manage the operation of all fire, safety and security systems for the Ashley Youth Detention Centre (AYDC).
  • Assist with the design, delivery, and evaluation of staff training regarding all aspects of safety and security at AYDC.
  • Develop and implement monitoring, quality assurance and audit procedures to ensure a high level of safety and security in accordance with Work Health and Safety legislation and Agency policies.

Period of Appointment

Ongoing - Start date ASAP

Applicants should be aware that for twelve (12) months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill any subsequent full-time or part-time vacancies in accordance with Employment Direction 1.

Hours per fortnight

76 hours per fortnight

Essential Requirements

  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment)
  • The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1 Conviction checks in the following areas:

a) crimes of violence
b) sex related offences
c) serious drug offences
d) crimes involving dishonesty
e) serious traffic offences

2 Identification check
3 Disciplinary actions in previous employment check
