Contribute to capacity building of school and child and family centre communities to improve access, participation and achievement of students and families.

This is a Department built entirely for children and young people and their communities.  Our ultimate goal is to work together to ensure that every child and young person in Tasmania is known, safe, well and learning.

The child is at the centre of everything we do and the way we do it.

Are you a Speech and Language Pathologist considering the next step in your career?

Are you passionate about helping children and young people communicate and supporting their teachers and families?

Speech and Language Pathologists (SLPs) working with the Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) play a key role supporting students’ communication and learning in Tasmanian schools.

About the role

You will work as part of an innovative and collaborative statewide professional support staff team. Using your clinical skills, you will assess and provide support to students individually or in groups. Working closely with families, teachers and other support services, you will help students participate at school and achieve the best outcomes.

The team

You will be welcomed into a highly supportive, team-based environment. You will be a member of your schools’ multidisciplinary Student Wellbeing and Support Teams, staying connected to your SLP team at a base site. You will also have opportunities to connect with your school psychologist and social work colleagues and to mentor less experienced SLPs in your team.
