Job description:

The Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) will from time to time require the services of employees for specified fixed-term and relief basis in a number of skill areas and disciplines. Such appointments fill a valuable role in complementing the existing permanent workforce. Accordingly, qualified Nurses interested in fixed-term full-time, part-time or casual roles within DECYP should record their details on this register.

Within the School Health Nurse Program, School Health Nurses work collaboratively with the school support and wellbeing teams in schools and with the Tasmanian Health Service.

School Health Nurses support school communities in many ways. We provide evidence-based practice. This ensures students and families get the most appropriate, relevant and up to date health information.

We are looking for:

Essential requirements

  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) with a registration Status – Employment

NOTE: The cost associated with obtaining a RWVP is the responsibility of the individual.

  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

Selection from the Register

Where a vacancy occurs the School Health Nurse Program Fixed term and Casual Employment Register will be examined to identify those persons who possess the necessary knowledge, skills, currency and qualifications to undertake the duties of the vacancy and who will be available to work.

Where vacancies are identified and an applicant(s) are regarded as being suitable to undertake the particular appointment, a merit-based selection process will be undertaken. The selection process may involve formal interviews.
