Job description:

The Planning and Reintegration Unit provides opportunities for sentenced prisoners and remandees to address their risk factors for re-offending and criminogenic needs, to encourage personal development and foster the achievement of socially responsible attitudes and behaviour. The objective of the position is to provide leadership, quality assurance and direction to an assessment, sentence planning and reintegration team within the Planning and Reintegration Unit, in accordance with agency policies and legal requirements.

Details of Appointment

Fixed-term full-time to 30 June 2027

This is a day work position working 73.50 hours per fortnight.

Salary of $99,482.00 - $104,352.00 pa. Starting salary negotiable within range subject to experience in a similar role. Annual salary increase within this range in accordance with the Tasmanian State Service Award and Public Service Union Wages Agreement

Working Environment

Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) has prison facilities located at Risdon Vale, Hobart and Launceston in Tasmania. This position is based at Risdon Vale. 

The Risdon Vale site offers a corporate working environment without the hustle and bustle of city centre offices, free on-site parking and access to the on-site staff gym (or head across the road to Risdon Brook Dam for a walk at lunch time). 

Duties

  • Mentor and supervise staff in the application of approved assessment tools (including the Level of Service Case Management Inventory (LS/CMI)) and case management practices
  • Assist the Senior Clinician, Rehabilitation and Reintegration in oversight of day-to-day operations of the Planning and Reintegration Unit including allocations and workload distribution.
  • Assist the Senior Clinician, Rehabilitation and Reintegration to quality assure the implementation of approved assessment tools and case management practices.
  • Case Management of more complex clients as required, developing comprehensive sentence plans and make referrals and or recommendations in line with individual plans.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Clinician, Rehabilitation and Reintegration provide oversight of the Induction Process for prisoners. This includes oversight of processes, documentation, staff training and ongoing review.
  • In-depth contributions to Tasmania Prison Service’s processes and policies regarding assessment, case management and brief interventions including processes, documentation, staff training and ongoing review.
  • Support and assist the Senior Clinician, Rehabilitation and Reintegration in the development and implementation of case management processes including assessment and brief interventions.

  • Relevant tertiary or post-graduate qualifications in a discipline such as social work, psychology or counselling
  • Current drivers licence
