Job description:
Lead and manage the Compliance and Surveillance Section. Monitor compliance of Tasmania’s marine farming, and commercial and recreational fishing.

About the role
As the Section Manager, Compliance and Surveillance, you will lead a statewide team delivering critical compliance, monitoring and surveillance functions across Tasmania’s marine farming and fisheries sectors. You will provide strategic direction, develop operational compliance plans, advise on legislation, and ensure accurate industry reporting. Operating with considerable autonomy, you will work closely with industry, community groups and government stakeholders to support sustainable resource management.
You will:
- Lead, manage and develop staff to support high performance and professional growth.
- Develop and implement operational compliance plans and frameworks.
- Oversee the application and interpretation of legislation, policy and business rules.
- Build strong relationships with industry, community and other government agencies.

Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).
Desirable requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or at least five years’ work experience in the sustainable development of natural resources.
- A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
- Limited Coxswains Certificate.
- AIIMS or other response training.
