Job description:

As the Principal Business Analyst you will provide strategic business analysis advice and support to the Chief Information and Technology Officer (CITO), managers and the department more broadly. You will lead a team of Business Analysts to provide a consistent and quality business analysis service.

Duties

  • Conduct in-depth analyses into complex and often ambiguous business scenarios to uncover underlying issues, opportunities and organisational impacts, to ultimately provide well-founded recommendations for improvement.
  • Evaluate business change proposals, assess viability, and provide strategic and expert advice on business requirements to guide decision making, while simultaneously managing expectations and resolving conflict when advice and demands diverge.
  • Autonomously lead initiatives to improve business processes, applying structured methodologies and delivering high-quality business analysis, project and change management outputs, as well as procurement documentation and contracts.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with DPFEM stakeholders, from end users to senior leadership, ensuring their requirements, expectations, and priorities are clearly understood and effectively translated into business outcomes across the requisite portfolios.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of Junior Business Analysts in all aspects of business analysis and its application within the DPFEM environment.
  • The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.

Essential Requirements

  • Deception (e.g. obtaining an advantage by deception);

  • Trafficking of narcotic substance;
  • False alarm raising. 

Desirable Requirements

Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or commensurate experience.

Experience in the delivery and management of complex business and technology related projects involving multiple agencies/organisations.
